About me
Training and counselling experience
I love to learn so am committed to keeping my knowledge up to date and get fresh new ideas. I have completed courses and workshops in adoption counselling for adults, working creatively, managing anxiety, spiritual abuse, emotional neglect, working with soul and working with anger amongst others.
I have previously worked for 2 counselling charities since qualifying, Crossways in Haslemere and Confide in Chichester. I have a personal faith and can help people explore their spirituality in counselling sessions.
Work life experience
My working career has been in the care sector from working in care homes for adults and children to being a children and families social worker for over 20 years. I've always been passionate about helping people I work with feel heard, respected and valued.
Having been raised in a single parent family, a blended family as well as having supported families in emotional distress, foster, adoptive and kinship carers I know families come in all shapes and sizes with their own unique challenges.
Adoption experience
As a social worker, I specialised in adoption, including all stages of the adoption process for adoptive parents, birth parents and others effected by adoption. This experience gave me a unique first hand insight into the issues of loss, attachment and challenges on all sides of the complex story.
