What brings you here?

You maybe experiencing anxiety, a bereavement or loss, issues within a relationship or a life event has brought about changes or feelings from the past.  These things can leave us feeling unlike our usual selves.

If you are experiencing difficulties with a family relationship, going through a tough time or have experienced a trauma as a family, or are adjusting to a change in dynamic counselling can help.

How counselling can help

I believe it is most important that we can build a relationship of trust.  Coming to get support can feel overwhelming especially when we're feeling stressed, vulnerable, stuck or a bit lost.  Sometimes finding the words for how we feel can be tricky.  My approach is to come alongside you, help you find the words and figure it out together.   It's important you feel heard and understood.

While I would never tell you what to do, we can explore ideas together until you find a way forward that feels right for you.  I can offer ideas to support your wellbeing day to day if things feel too much.

In our first session we would look at what brings you to counselling and what you're hoping to achieve from it. I will take your lead on what you would like to talk about but equally, if you know you are someone who likes to avoid the tough stuff, I can offer gentle encouragement and a safe space to help you do this.

If you are someone who likes a task to do or a more creative activity to help talk about your feelings, I have a toolkit of creative ideas. I would always take your lead before using these in a session.

'People are just as wonderful as sunsets if you let them be. When I look at a sunset, I don't find myself saying, "soften the orange a bit on the right hand corner" I don't try and
control a sunset. I watch with awe as it unfolds.'
